It's been a while

Hi guys! It's been a while since I last posted here. Just an update! We just acquired a small stereo mixer -- Boss bx-4. It's a 4 track mixer. We'll be using it for recording demos and stuff.

Last night, we did a little sample to test this tiny gadget. It was good, a little more tweak and it'll be great for us. We also had a meeting last night regarding doing an EP. All composition! I'm excited. Right now he have around 3 to 4 songs in our pockets. We just have to choose which of those will make it to the EP. We are still working on the arrangement of the songs. We are excited!

Last Saturay, we did a surprise debut for Xandra, our friend and churchmate. After long preparations, I'm so happy that it turned out to be a success. All the band practices and the hardwork we did was worth it. I'm hoping to do it again the next time.:)

Anyways, about my last blog entry about strings. I bought a Martin 12's for my acoustic. I got it on a SALE. I bought it for 245 bucks. MENOS!:D I'm a little disappointed because the strings easily darkened (i would not say rusty because it wasn't). But yeah, it's all about my sweaty hands.

It's 7:45 am here in the Philippines and it's unusual that I'm up right now from bed. That's because I've got a lot of things to do today and it's exciting. I'll blog it more later tonight.

I'm leaving the house after this to buy a set of strings for my acoustic guitar. I can't still decide what I'm gonna buy. Martin or D' Addario? Hmmm.. Bahala na! I'll just get whatever appeals to me when I get there at the shop. I hope it's not easily rusted. I possess a sweaty hands and it's a big hassle for me to change strings often.

Sungha Jung: A Child Prodigy

There's this kid that made my jaw dropped the first time I watched him play. His name is Sungha Jung from Korea. This kid started playing guitar at the age of 10. Now he's 12 and he just keeps getting better. I can't imagine that in 2 years time, he could play what he plays... and to think that he's so young, it just blows me away.

Sungha made me look guitar playing on a different perspective. I used to think that it is impossible to do stuff from Tommy Emmanuel and etc. at that age. He changed my views. What a prodigy! (I envy him :D)

I imagined what would he be 5 years from now. Pretty exciting huh? It's scary what would he be like when he gets older. Maybe the next Tommy E.?

I hope my future child will be as good as this kid (ohh.. I think "amazing" is better in describing Sungha). Haha!

It's good that I'm getting back on playing acoustic fingerstyle guitar. I believe it's so pure.. no effects and whatsoever. Just plain music. It's so timing that I have a new influence, a new guru!

When I practice difficult stuff, my thought tells me that "if he can do it, why can't you!"

Here's a cover of In Your Atmosphere, by John Mayer. This is one of my all time favorites from JM. The lyrics just shows how creative he is as a songwriter. I also love the altered guitar tuning on this particular song... again, pure creativity!

I can't wait for him to release his soon-to-be-album. I think they're cooking it now. It's fun to see his website (johnmayer.com) which contains videos with the band on the process of writing & recording some new stuff. Pretty cool for a superstar. He's really an influence.

One of the greatest music icon, Michael Jackson died few days ago due to cardiac arrest. It's a sad news for the music industry. I love his music and the musicality in him - inspiring music and words.

There is only on Michael Jackson.

As a guitar player. I so love the guitar parts on his songs -- BEAT IT, which Eddie Van Halen played solo to and other songs with Slash, Jennifer Batter, Greg Howe, etc.

His contributions were so huge that everyone all over the world I think knows him.

It's the start of MJ's legend. His music will live forever.

The First Time I Ever.....

I had the privilege to teach some young people playing guitar. It's my first time teaching music formally but I loved what I did. I am not a "teacher" type of guy, but I somehow liked it. I really think that doing what you really love is so fulfilling, the fee is just a bonus.

It's amazing to see how the young people attentively listens to me the moment I started sharing my knowledge. The smile on their faces and their desire to learn the guitar pumped me up! The session last longer than what I expected. I thought I couldn't maximize the time that was given to me.

After the session, I jammed with the other teachers. We played some stuff and solo over it. All I can say is that they are all amazing. Promise.

Good evening guys. We had just finished recording a demo of the song Everything I Need with Prince on vocals. The audio is kinda "Hissy" but it's tolerable. I hope you take time to listen to it. We need your feedbacks. It will be much appreciated.

We will record this song properly soon and post it on Youtube.

Anyways, I used my new Yamaha FG-160 to on this track. You wouldn't hear it's pure tone on this audio track 'cause we just used a crappy microphone.

The guitar is great. Old but very very good. It's a 70's guitar. Produced by Yamaha Japan. Great tone. I hope to record it better next time.

Good day bloggers. Franz here. The news forecast stated that heavy rains will pour today because of the typhoon that will hit Manila. Thank God it's not what I expected it to be.

Here's some things I'll be doing today. I will meet Brznf this afternoon to get a new acoustic guitar. It's a vintage Yamaha FG-160! We got it cheap! I hope it's doing well. The seller texted us that it has no problems whatsoever and it has a very low action. That's what I'm looking for in an acoustic guitar. User friendly.:)

After this, we'll be meeting Prince to teach him the new songs I made. It will not take long. We'll just run through and brainstorm stuffs. I hope it'll turn out well.
